Lyoto Machida is coming once again in this 104th edition of the Ultimate Fight Championship. He will try to defeat the other Brazilian, Mauricio Rua for the Light Heavyweight Championship belt. The tournament will be held at Los Angeles, California and is going to be televised in Pay Per View.
To comment a little regarding the background, UFC President Dana White had confirmed that the winner of the Shane Carwin vs. Cain Velasquez fight would become the #1 Contender for Brock Lesnar's UFC Heavyweight Championship. However, on August 20, it was reported the bout was off and that Carwin would fight Lesnar at UFC 106 instead and Velasquez will fight against Ben Rothwell.
On one side we have Lyoto Machida, which is a really experienced fighter. He is the actual champion of the UFC league on the Light Heavyweight won the last May 22nd at UFC98 against Evans. He is characterized to keep the fight on his feet "striker" but also he is really good at the dround with his Jiu-Jitsu techniques.
On the other side we have another really experienced fighter which is also very good at Jiu-Jitsu. No doubt a really well experienced and aggressive fighter, but not as well as Machida.

UFC104 made some history last Saturday October 24th, 2009. Lyoto "The Dragon" Machida defeated Mauricio "Shogun" Rua via unanimous decision keeping in this way the champion belt on his hands. Besides this result, the rest of the results also shows that the event was one of those nights in which the whole tournament gets re-defined. We cannot wait until the next edition of the UFC tournament. |
